Bigger was not better.
MBMG’s founders recognized when the media business needed
to change. Bruce Milner and Andrew Butcher helped pioneer just such
a change back in the late 70’s. They capitalized on the idea
of the “unbundled” media agency by launching ICG and consolidating
the media budgets of its clients to achieve the efficiencies that came
with greater buying power.
Nearly 20 years later, Bruce and Andrew sold ICG to media giant Carat,
and began to realize that all the consolidation in the media business
had gone too far. Many media agencies had become so big they weren’t
providing the service, the expertise or the results they should.
This was a complaint many advertisers voiced to both founders.
And where there is a complaint, there is an opportunity. And so...
MBMG was born in 2002.
